ASL Day! The Wondrous Life of a Deaf Lithuanian by Donatas (Don) Pocesiunas Donatas (Don) Pocesiunas was born behind the Iron Curtain in Lithuania. When he was 5 years old, the USSR imploded and the Russians departed. With the sudden change, the future looked bleak with guaranteed jobs gone, but educational opportunities opened for Deaf people. This young man survives and thrives against difficult odds. He has been at Gallauadet since September interning and learning ASL. Stretch your skills with a well-educated Deaf man who has recently begun his ASL studies. Learn of his life and plans/hopes for the future.
