Hard of Hearing people have difficulty hearing sound and understanding speech. Phone conversations can be a challenge. Personal conversations can be fraught with misunderstanding. Fortunately, the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing is here to help.

Getting your hearing checked, affording and purchasing hearing aids, as well as selecting the right audiologist or hearing aid dispenser to assist you, is one of the most important decisions you will make regarding your hearing healthcare.  ACDHH has compiled the following resources to help guide you in this process.

Hard of Hearing Services

Our Hard of Hearing Program Manager, Michele Michaels, is hard of hearing and has been working in the hearing loss field since 1993. She travels throughout the State of Arizona providing outreach and education to consumers and professionals. Vicki Thompson and Christine Milano are now part of the Hard of Hearing Program. Vicki has been leading the AzTEDP since 2004 and Christine has been working in the program since 2011. Together the team provides assistance regarding hard of hearing issues, telecommunications equipment, and Arizona Relay Service outreach and education.

Family & Youth Services

Parents and caregivers of hard of hearing children have many questions about what is best for their child.  Our Family and Youth Resources page will address many of these issues. This page will also provide current events and other pertinent information about hard of hearing children.

Loop A-Z

ACDHH supports efforts to Loop Arizona. Installing looping in facilities state-wide, such as at the Arizona State Capitol, increases access to communication for hard of hearing people.
