Deaf Mentor/ASL Support for Young Child

Part-time Job Description: Our family is seeking a compassionate, engaging individual to serve as a Deaf mentor and provide ASL support services for our young daughter, who is deaf/hard of hearing. She uses both spoken English and ASL as her forms of communication. Our family is currently learning ASL, and we recognize the importance of offering our daughter consistent exposure to fluent ASL users. The ideal candidate will spend quality time with her engaging in crafts, games, and other fun activities, all while incorporating ASL. Responsibilities: *Spend time with our daughter, engaging in various activities such as crafts, games, and outdoor fun. *Incorporate ASL in all interactions to reinforce and expand her language skills. *Provide positive feedback and encouragement to foster her confidence in using ASL. *Communicate with family members regarding progress and suggestions for further language enrichment. Qualifications: *Fluent in American Sign Language; native ASL users or individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing are highly preferred. *Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or mentoring capacity. *Patience, creativity, and a genuine interest in supporting a child’s language and social development. *Reliable transportation. *Ability to pass a background check.
