Early Identification and Intervention

As you begin to explore and learn about the opportunities available to your child, ACDHH family engagement services are here to assist you.

We provide advocacy, information, and referrals to support your family on your journey of raising a successful Deaf, Hard of Hearing or DeafBlind child.

Universal Newborn Hearing Screening

A hearing screening is completed right after birth to see if your child might have a hearing loss. If your child was not born in a hospital or did not have a hearing screening, please schedule a screening with your pediatrician’s office or any of the resources that offer free hearing screenings.

Early Identification / Diagnosis

If your child does not pass a hearing screening, he/she may be referred for a more detailed diagnostic hearing test. If a hearing loss is identified, a hearing device may be recommended.
