Casting Call

The Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard for Hearing is launching a campaign this fall to highlight the employment needs of our community. The goal is to tell the story of employment within the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind community and express the need for greater employment opportunities.

As part of the campaign, we want to tell your story. We are looking for community members who will participate in a photo shoot to be used in upcoming advertising. A photo shoot is tentatively set for July 13 and July 14, and you must be available during one of those dates.

If you are interested, please submit the following:

  • One full body photo and one half body photo from the chest up.
  • Please do NOT submit selfies, but have a friend take the photo or set up a tripod to ensure there is a good photo for review.
  • Ensure that there's enough light, with a neutral background that is not too busy.
  • Keep the wardrobe to simple non-textured clothing. If you have an outfit or a uniform you were to work, please use that as a starting point.
  • Submit the highest resolution available from your device. NO THUMBNAIL or PREVIEW images please
  • Include your name, occupation, and contact information (email, VP, or voice #).

No photos will be shared publicly without permission of our models.

All submissions should be sent to: [email protected] by 5 p.m. July 6, 2020.

In addition to the photo shoot, we are looking for individual employment stories from the community. Do you have experiences to share about being treated well in the workplace? Do you have a story about an interview gone wrong?

We want to share a realistic story about the employment experience in Arizona for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind community.

To participate, send us at least 150 words about your experience. Additionally, you can send a video or link to a video of at least 2 minutes in ASL.

All submissions should be sent to: [email protected] by 5 p.m. July 6, 2020.
