Following extensive surveys and research conducted within Arizona’s ASL interpreting community, the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (ACDHH) produced a detailed study on the interpreter shortage.
To further amplify the findings and engage the community, ACDHH hosted a successful "Interpreter Shortage Town Hall," attended by over 235 participants. Led by Cameo Hunsaker, ACDHH’s Interpreting Professional Development Specialist, the town hall presented key highlights from the study, complete with infographics that illustrated the data.
This report, shaped by the research and previous town hall discussions, addresses key inquiries from ACDHH Commissioners. It provides a comprehensive look at the current state of interpreting services, statistical trends, and personal feedback from survey respondents—ultimately offering actionable insights for tackling the interpreter shortage in Arizona.
